The Nose Knows

When I go on my walks, our Golden Retriever Lexie goes
with me. She loves going on walks. She can tell when I'm
getting ready to go on a walk and will run and stand at the
door waiting for me. There's no chance of going without
her.

Obviously dogs have a better sense of smell than we
do and from what I can tell, I'm very glad I can't smell
as well as she does. Apparently there is dog pee every
20 feet and Lexie has to smell it... every 20 feet. Then
she'll smell a batch that must be particularly potent
because this requires squatting and peeing in that
exact spot.

I'm perplexed with her ability to continually conjure
up a little pee to do this marking ritual since I let
her out to do her business before we even leave.
Is there a special Pee Reservoir reserved especially
for this purpose? And I thought only male dogs
marked with pee where other dogs had been?

Needless to say, the stopping and starting on
walks so that she can sniff is driving me batty!
